Ringing in the New Year

January 1, 2011

Can you believe another year is starting?  I hope you all had a fun and safe New Year’s Eve.  It was -6 in Colorado last night so Joey and I had dinner with a few friends then hightailed it back home and there’s nothing you could have said to me to make me go back out into the cold, except maybe “The Woodchuck is on the porch”.  A group of us ended up lounging in our PJ’s and the girls dominated the boys in an intense long game of Trivial Pursuit.

We were up till 3 AM and I don’t plan on seeing another person awake in this apartment until at least noon.

I however was driven from bed by hunger, go figure and now I have some quiet time to reflect on what was in 2010 and what will be in 2011.

2010 was a wonderful year.  I published my first ever blog post, turned 21, decided to train for a half marathon, vacationed in Glenwood Springs, took a road trip to Las Vegas and California (read about it here, here, here, here and here), lost a pet 😦, visited New Orleans with my mom and sister (Part 1 and Part 2), ran 10 miles and cried because I was so proud of myself and ran a half marathon (read about one of the best days of my life here).

And that’s not all.  No, I baked, cooked, tasted, laughed, photographed and enjoyed so many new things and discovered confidence in myself that I never knew I had.  I think I’ve grown so much this year and I plan on continuing that on into 2011.

I’ve toyed with the idea of making New Year’s resolutions for the past couple of days and I’ve decided that writing a list of things to get done stresses me out.  Instead I’m making a few big resolutions that I can carry on throughout the year.

New Year’s Resolutions:

  1. Be present.
  2. Feed and nourish myself <— Sorry, Beanie, I had to steal this 😛
  3. Don’t be so serious

Don’t get me wrong, I have a million other little goals I’d like to accomplish but honestly, I kind of like who I’ve become this year and I don’t want to make many changes.  And if you ask me, that’s a good thing.

Now let me leave you with a little survey that Chelsey tagged me in.

  3. “I’m so hungry”
  4. “Oh my god”

Four Things I’ve Learned From the Past

  1. You can’t change the past so don’t get hung up on things that have already happened
  2. The scale is not your friend

  4. I am so much stronger than I think
