Deja Vu

July 26, 2011

I could lie and say this will be some kind of coherent post, and I could pretend I have some sort of “deja vu” theme to tie everything together, but let’s be honest.  This will most certainly turn into another one of those “more odds than ends” posts that are becoming more and more frequent around here.

Maybe I should consider a blog name change.

You know that whole “learn from your mistakes” saying?  I seem to have a hard time with that one.  Case in point, this post from last year where I talked about doing too many lunges and being uber sore the next day while having to complete a training run.

And then I went and did it again yesterday/today.

Actually, I totally blame Troy for making us hold crescent lunge forever what felt like forever yesterday in my hot power fusion yoga class.

Crescent lunge, you are the bane of my yoga existence.

And can I also say I don’t think I’ve ever sweated so much in my life.  Joey asked me if I’d peed my pants when he went to put my workout shorts in the wash.

Also, no matter how many times I wake up kicking myself for not going to bed earlier and promising I will next time, I still don’t listen.  I was up with the sun (okay, that makes it sound like I was running at 4 AM, it was really only 6!) to run and felt so groggy.  I thought the actual run was relatively painless, at least.  One lesson I have learned is to get my workout done early.  I never know how the rest of the day is going to pan out or if spontaneous plans (or heat!) will arise so I always think it’s best to get it out of the way early.  And now I’m bored and wish I had something to take up some time, go figure.

And while we’re on the topic of repeated events, I just signed up for the Skirt Chaser again.  Let’s hope I don’t feel like I’m dying of a heat stroke like last time.  It’s a different course so please please let it be less up-hilly.

The whole idea is that females get a 3-minute headstart on the males.  Joey is free to sign up should he chose, but I hope he’s prepared to eat my dust.

More repeats: I’m making eggplant parm again tonight, a la Kath.  I’ve used this recipe once before (around this exact time last year, in fact!) and don’t know why I haven’t made it since.

Last year’s picture: I think some improved photography and better lighting is in order.

And speaking of pictures, I plan on getting through this entire post without using a single recent picture or even many pictures that I actually took.  Sound good?

And why should I even try to make chia seeds look picture-worthy when someone else can do it for me?  Thanks, Google!

I finally broke down and purchased a 3-lb. bag of chia seeds.  Not because I buy into any of the health benefits of chia seeds (whatever they claim to be) or because I think they make me feel like a hundred bucks, but because they give a texture to overnight oats that ground flax just can’t.  So to heck with you, flax.

I had to forewarn Joey that 3 pounds of chia seeds were coming his way at work (I didn’t want to risk shipping them here, since we’re moving at the end of the week).  Oh and to keep an eye out for this important delivery as well.

Peas and Thank You: Simple Meatless Meals the Whole Family Will Love

I’m not sure whether I’m more excited about the recipes or the humor that will certainly come along with them.

Fact: I almost wrote a text about my dinner “recipea” the other day.  I spend too much time on that blog.

I’m off to do some last minute preparations for my mom’s birthday tomorrow 🙂

Happy Tuesday!

Haha I never learn from my mistakes either. I remember eating soooo many sweets when I was a little kid that it would give me the hugest stomach ache, and I’d be sitting there in agony promising myself that I’d never do it again. And what did I reach for as soon as I was feeling better? More sweets 😉 And I’ve found a few copies of Peas and Thank You in a bookstore across town. I’m going to pick up my copy tomorrow 😀 Soooo excited.

I only follow a half dozen blogs, and you and Mama Pea are on that short list. I pre-ordered the book from Amazon, cause…I order everything from Amazon. And like you, I’m excited for the funny stories MP will throw in the book. When you publish your first book, whatever the topic, I will certainly be purchasing that as well. 😉

Haha – I love that race theme. Too cute. I haven’t ordered that cook book… yet. Perhaps I should!

Added the cookbook to my Amazon wishlist recently, but that list is already overwhelmed with vegan cookbooks. Someday I’ll have the money for a library consisting only of cookbooks…

And I am with you on the AM workouts! There’s always a schedule conflict/excuse/laziness in the afternoon, but if I just get up and go, I know it’s been done for the day.
