No Fuss
I fear I haven’t been completely honest with you all about what’s been going on in my kitchen.
Or should I say, what hasn’t been going on in my kitchen.
Although it may look like I’ve been making meals with recipes.
And clearly from these pictures, there has been some recipe following and actual chopping/labor intensive cooking going on, but really this summer has been all about the no fuss meal.
You know the one I’m talking about.
The one that’s on the plate in less than 5 minutes and takes no culinary talent or creativity to come up with.
Yeah, I’m all about those kinds of meals lately.
In fact, I could sum up the foods I’ve been subsisting off of lately quite easily.
Obviously bread is one of them…
Followed closely by sprouts, basil and hummus.
And the occasional egg.
Then there’s pickles and salad. Separate or together.
Strawberries have worked their way in as well.
And anything that can be stuffed inside a tortilla is good enough for me.
Especially if it requires a fork to eat it.
And sometimes there’s granola just for fun.
Consider this post a tribute to the non-gourmet side of food blogging. Because not all my meals require a great deal of effort or more than a few minutes to put together.
And I wouldn’t say I’m missing any essential nutrients either. From fruit to veggies to carbs to sweets, I think I’ve got my bases covered. And the best part was that I didn’t have to plan any of those components out. I ate what I craved. Plain and simple.
Are you a fan of the no fuss meal?
Or have you changed your approach to cooking now that summer is here?
I’m a fan of no fuss meals but I kind of fail at them. If I don’t have a recipe to follow, I’m at a total loss. I will just sit and stare into the refrigerator/cupboard aimlessly and never come up with anything. That combined with the fact that the husband is too used to a “formal” type meal means that there’s more fuss than no-fuss in my kitchen. I like your way better! Sometimes I would just like to be able to have something that only took a few minutes to prepare! 😛
I think part of it is the fact that I’m the only one who has to eat what I make. It’s much easier to whip up something if it doesn’t have to impress anyone but you!
No fuss meals in the summer time are the BEST!!!
I have been ALL about no fuss meals lately! (in case you couldn’t tell 😛 ) I honestly just don’t feel like doing long meals anymore. This past weekend I baked a lot, but still had a lot of quick lunches and dinners. I think summer = light and quick, yet still yummy 🙂
I’m definitely a lover of the no fuss meals, especially in summer. Occasionally I’ll get hit by some motivation to make a more complicated meal, but more often than not, I just want something that’s quick and doesn’t require much clean up And no fuss meals definitely don’t deserve a bad rap – you’ve done a good job at showing that they can be nutritional powerhouses too 😀
I am loving the no fuss meals. I was actually planning on writing a post about that today 😛
I hope you do! By the way, I cannot seem to find your blog page. Can you kindly tell me the address??
I have been all about the no-fuss meals for the past four months. They’re cheaper, easier to make, and still healthy. You really can’t go wrong…I figure that if you’re going to make simple meals, summer is definitely the time to do it since fruits and veggies have the most vibrant flavors at this time of year. You don’t really need to do too much to them to get a good tasting meal going on.
I’m a huge fan of no-fuss meals. They especially appealing to me in the summer.
