New

June 14, 2011

Well, friends, it’s happened.

I just couldn’t wait any longer.

Fresh strawberries are officially back in my life.

(And gosh darnit, why can’t I manage to take a picture without the strap of my camera hanging down in the corner??)

I went through a period in my life where I could not live without fresh strawberries.  They ended up in my grocery cart every.single.week. without fail.  Then frugality got a hold of me and I figured I could hold out until they were actually in season so I wouldn’t have to pay some ridiculously high price for them.

Oh and extra ridiculously high because I refuse to buy anything but organic.

IMG_1445

I know they’re form California, but hey, at least they’re not from Thailand **cough, bag of shrimp on my counter right now, cough**

I’m not really a stickler for buying organic, but strawberries are the #1 pesticide ridden food, so they’re the exception.

IMG_1446

Can’t wait to throw these on top some oats.  Or cereal.  Or a salad.  Or just straight into my mouth.

IMG_1447

Strawberries aren’t the only thing I splurged on this week.

IMG_1452

Why is is that Target only sells giant spoon rests?

IMG_1453

And now we have something to keep all our cooking utensils in.  I believe it rang up as a “utensil crock.”

IMG_1454

I don’t care what it’s called as long as we don’t have to keep pulling spoons and spatulas out of a plastic grocery bag.

IMG_1455

And finally a new can opener.  The one we had before was cheap and crappy and I had to mentally prepare before using it, or mentally prepare to admit to Joey that I couldn’t do it and could he open this can of black beans please?

IMG_1456

Oddly enough, I was the one that suggested Joey purchase the old useless one, because it was cheapest and we didn’t live together so what did I care if he had a functioning can opener.  Little did I know I’d be inheriting it…

Oh and did you notice the new fancy backgrounds?

IMG_1457

I’ll spare you from having to look at that stripped towel ever again.

Maybe…

IMG_1459

I also managed to end up with some unnecessary clothing purchases in my cart as well.  Hey, a girl has to have new clothes once in a while.

IMG_1460 Don’t worry I remembered to get some shirts for work as well.  Will someone tell clothing designers to make some better looking collared shirts?

And here’s something new and different.  I’m actually going to a Rockies game tonight.  It’s been SO long.  Let’s make believe they keep losing because I’m their good luck charm, shall we?

Enough about me, what’s new in your life?

I’m not a stickler for buying everything organic, but strawberries are definitely one of the things that have to be… They feel kind of dirty otherwise. So I’m happy that they’re in season and I can kinda eat my weight in them…

What’s new in my life? Hrm.. Got some new workout clothes from Lulu. I swear I can’t walk into there without buying something… my poor wallet 😦

Ah, I want to go to Lululemon so bad! I’m fairly sure there’s one close by so maybe I should stop saying it and just go!

I LOVE strawberries but I hate their price!! 😦
I got to job shadow a physician and then a PT at the hospital today and yesterday. Listening to patients hearts was NEW for me!

Strawberries are the best berry (in my opinion) I love them, they are even great when you buy them frozen! There is not much new in my life…except that I should really be getting to bed because I have to be at work early tomorrow 🙂

What’s new in my life? My garden!!

I’m so jealous! I hope you’re growing basil. I’ve always wanted to do that!

There are few things more magical than fresh, organic, in-season strawberries. Good lord…I want to run to the store right now and grab some! Something new in my life? My future roomies and I finally found a place in Denver. Thank GOD. House hunting is fun for like a day and then it just gets obnoxious when all the places keep getting snatched up. Glad it’s over! 🙂

Congrats!! I would LOVE to live in Denver so you’ll have to give me some house/apartment hunting tips!

Hey Lauren – KitchenAid can opener, nice. You got the Cadillac. My wife loves all things KitchenAid. I do like the fancy new backgrounds – at first I thought they were finger paintings. New in my life: tomatoes! I’ve never grown veggies before, so trying a few potted tomato plants in the backyard. I hope to evolve it into a full blown garden in future summers.

And thanks for helping the Rockies win last night, you may in fact be their good luck charm! 🙂

Let’s hope the can opener isn’t too fancy. Growing up my parents had a Pampered Chef one that didn’t attach to the can like a normal opener. It was SO funny to watch my dad struggle to figure out how it worked.

There’s nothing like fresh homegrown tomatoes!

Yay for strawberries! I have to admit that is one of my favorite things about where I live…strawberry season!

There’s LOTS of things I love about where you live 🙂
