Cinnamon Roll Attempt?
I’m not saying my version of Mama Pea’s Blackberry Cinnamon Rolls weren’t good, because they went a heck of a lot better than my prior cinny roll attempt, but I wouldn’t call them perfect (or anywhere near as good looking as the original) by any means.
This whole process started on Friday afternoon. I liked the thought of leaving them in the fridge overnight and just having to bake them for 23 minutes in the morning.
Side Note: I once tried to make a Cooking Light version and realized that morning that you had to let the dough sit for an hour. Like 3 times!!! I was none too thrilled to discover breakfast wouldn’t be ready till after noon.
Anyways…
Yeast went from this

And dough went from this
——–> to this
——-> to this
Check out that texture!
I ended up with one mini cinny
Later we tried a pumpkin beer that is barely worth mentioning. I couldn’t taste the pumpkin AT ALL so I was done after one sip ha ha.
I did like the illustration on the side 🙂
And now for the most exciting part of this post.
Attention, everyone! This morning I ran 9 miles!!! Yes, this is kind of a big deal for me.
The Run:
- Mile Splits: 10:17, 9:51, 9:49, 9:55, 9:45, 9:53, 9:44, 9:56, 9:39 (!!!)
- Total Time: 1:28:54
- Average Pace: 9:52
I’m certainly happy with those stats! But the thought of having to run an extra 4 miles kinda makes me want to cry…
What’s better than warm cinnamon rolls after a 9 mile run? Warm cinnamon rolls + a pumpkin spice latte, duh!
I jumped in the shower and sent Joey out to get me some Sbux. The look of confusion on his face when I said I wanted a “tall decaf pumpkin spice latte with soy” was anything but reassuring. He returned with said latte but with whipped cream?? Uhh, do you know me at all? This was either stupidity or a ploy so he could offer to eat my whipped cream.
After tasting the drink Joey said, “This is good, did you know?” Yes, naive boyfriend, the entire world knows it’s good.
The cinny rolls were still doughy after 23 minutes so I left them in for an extra ten or so and they were good to go!
I just decided to mix powdered sugar and almond milk for the icing. It was plenty sweet!
They were a little dry on the outside but perfectly gooey and sweet on the inside. I love the addition of blackberries 🙂
Off to do some stretching!
Happy Saturday 🙂
mmm yum! These look delicious! I can’t wait to see you make my pancakes tomrrow!
Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to make the pancakes today (Moms and there breakfast invitations I tell you!) but I have them on my to do list for this week!
Wowsa! Those look so yum. My Grandma used to make unbelievable cinn rolls and it always brings back happy memories 🙂
I thought about you when I made them because they were so cinnamony!! I bet your Grandma’s were beyond amazing 🙂
