Santa Fe Memories
Hi, all. I’m alive and finally ready to make my return to the world of blogging. I say that like I haven’t been checking comments and reading posts via iPhone for the past 3 days. I totally have.
So thank you all for your kind birthday wishes. They made the day just that much better 🙂
And thank you, Santa Fe for hosting my 22nd birthday. You were truly magnificent.
Sigh, once in a while you go somewhere and it makes such an impression on you that it’s impossible to dismiss it as just another vacation spot.
For me, Santa Fe fits this description.
It will always remind me of my family and the visits we’ve made there together.
And how I got to share the city with someone who had never been before.
Bell Tower Balcony at La Fonda.
I will remember sipping margaritas under blazing blue skies.
And details that both stunned and amused me.
“Miraculous Spiral Staircase”
I will remember being in a place where I felt truly happy.
Laughed whole-heartedly and let life slow down long enough to enjoy the simple pleasures.
Why doesn’t the Boulder Farmers’ Market have a harp player?
And let myself indulge.
And eat a whole heck of a lot of good food.
But that’s a post for another day.
Some vacations are an adventure. Some are a disaster. And most are a mix of the two. Those are the best 🙂
We may have gotten lost a few times and spent more money than we Joey should have, but the memories we will have from this trip are so worth it.
Weekend Revelation #1: You will never regret taking a vacation and the memories you make while you’re there.
Weekend Revelation #2: You know you’ve been somewhere magical when you’re truly sad to leave it.
Until next time, Santa Fe.

When/where was the last time you took a vacation?
What’s your best vacation memory?
It looks wonderful! I’ve never been to Santa Fe but it’s certainly on my list. The last time I took a vacation was my honeymoon and I can’t even pick what my favorite memory was–there are too many! 🙂
That’s not a bad thing 🙂
wow it looks like you had an amazing time.
The buildings are so beautiful as well.
I think my best vacation was to Disneyland in Florida, I had always wanted to go to America and I loved it. I definitely want to visit alot more of America.
Love Jess xx
I LOVE DISNEYLAND.
Looks like you had an awesome time! And happy {late} birthday!! 😀
Thank you, Lesley!
Beautiful photography and beautiful sentiment about the trip! I always have that sad-to-leave feeling when I come home from NYC. But now I think I might have to try Santa Fe! Especially if it comes with fried zucchini blossoms. My last out-of-state vacation was NYC–and my next will be CO in two days! And I agree–you will never regret a vacation. Even the disasters are memorable in a good way. New experiences are always a positive.
I will apologize in advance for our crazy weather. If you are planning on doing anything outdoors make sure to do it early in the day!
BEAUTIFUL! Wow.. esp. that staircase. I don’t know what it is about spiral staircases that makes them so mystical and amazing.
I think today’s architecture needs more spiral staircases, don’t you?
Amen to never regretting a vacation… even the bad memories become good ones when you come home and look back at them. I’m glad you had a good time, girl 😀 Everything looks fantastic. The last big vacation I took was to go visit all my family in Poland a few summers ago. My parents came over to Canada a few years before I was born, so all our family is still back in Europe, and it was great to see them. And I absolutely love European culture, too… so different from over here. I really need another vacation, though, so I’m planning to take one this summer, I just haven’t decided where to go yet!
I wish I had family is Europe so I had an excuse to go visit!
What a wonderful trip!
My favorite vacation is a tie between two of them. One would be my trip to Hawaii, the second would be my wedding/honeymoon trip to Jamaica!
Jamaica would be SO nice! My parents took my sister and I to Hawaii when we were younger and we were so bored. Looking back, I’m was just being a brat and I should have enjoyed it more instead of sulking in the hotel because I couldn’t be hanging out with my friends on winter break.
Ummm, well I guess my Guatemala mission trip would sorta be like a vacation.
Sounds like quite an adventure!
your vacation looks and sounds like it was wonderful. i love all the pictures – you both look so truly happy 🙂
the last time i took a vacation…eeeonnss ago! to virginia. it was hot. we went to busch gardens…and i dislike amusement parks. needless to say, i think i’d rather have taken a vaca to colorado…or santa fe 😉
Or both!
you both do look happy! those drinks look magnificent. I heard once that one of the major things people who were dying wished they did more of was vacation, instead of saving money and saying “one day!”
That’s probably so true!!
Santa Fe is definitely a special place….I’m glad you had such an amazing time there on your b-day no less! I have so many good vacation memories, it’s hard to choose just one. My all-time fav vacation was probably a cruise my family took to Alaska when I was in the 6th grade. It was epic….taking a helicopter and walking around on a glacier, rafting, biking, hiking, whale sightings, and gold panning=AWESOME. 🙂
Sounds right up your alley!
BEAUTIFUL PICTURES 🙂 my best vaca memory was my cruise throughout europe…must i say more? haha
Gah, I’m so jealous! I’ve been thinking about taking a cruise lately 🙂
