Back From the Dead
Oh, hello. Did you forget about me?
Don’t worry, I did not forget about any of you, although it was sort of nice to take a break from the blogging scene for a weekend. And really, just a break from the internet altogether. This was due to the fact that we just got our internet set up at the new place and because every night when I got home from work I promptly crashed into my bed. Who knew being on your feet for hours at a time was so exhausting. I swear my knees are bleeding from the inside. Okay, that totally makes me criiiiiinge. Sorry!
So, the big move wasn’t actually all that big, considering we moved from an apartment complex on one side of the street to a different complex on the other side of the street, but moving is just such a hassle. I prayed every night that I would wake up as Harry Potter and I could just wave my wand and everything would be moved, but no such luck.
The move was bittersweet. I loved our old place and our old roommates (Hannah and Josh, I already miss you!), but our lease was up and it was time to part ways. I guess I just don’t like change, but a change of scenery can be good and we will definitely have new adventures in the new place.
Upsides:
- An attached bathroom! I didn’t like having to share by bathroom with guests, can you blame me?
- A window in the kitchen!! Goodbye, artificial lighting and hello dinner pictures.
- A fan above our bed! Our last apartment was always SO hot
- Our new roommate has a Lovesac. Need I say more?
- Bigger patio. It was a tight squeeze between the grill and the railing at the old place.
Downsides:
- This giant window in our room.
Oh great, because I totally don’t mind waking up at dawn everyday.
- We have a lot less storage space. I obviously mean kitchen storage. Who cares where Joey’s bowling bag goes?
Our kitchen table looks a lot better now, but this is what it looked like when we first moved in.
No, I don’t knead need 10 mugs, so who knows why I have that many.
- That I don’t get to see this lady every day. Or every other day – sometimes we were busy, okay?!
But Joey and I did get to have a celebratory dinner with them after we everyone but me cleaned out the old apartment. (I was working, I swear!)
Bash on chains all you want, but I enjoy the Village Tavern. And their outdoor seating. And the fact that the sun didn’t go down till 9 PM. Oh yeah!
Don’t enjoy when my salad is the most expensive thing on the bill, though. I blame the shrimp.
Brightest sweet potato fries ever. With Joey’s burger. I swear everywhere makes sweet potato fries now. I’m okay with that.
Like I told Hannah, you just can’t go wrong with their pizza. I think she would agree.
“Pose that plate, Josh.” And did he ever.
We still have some random things to put away in our room and that whole finding room in the kitchen thing, but for the most part we’re all settled in and thank goodness.
Oh and I’m starting to settle in at work too. Please be kind to your barista (this is the term for the person who makes your coffee drinks in case you’re name is Joey and you have no idea what a barista is :P), there is so much that goes into making those drinks. My brain is maxed out with information and drink recipes. I plan on writing a post about the adjustments I’ve had to make now that I’m working, so watch out for that one remind me when I forget.
I’m off to enjoy our first homemade dinner in the new place!
Happy Sunday 🙂
Congrats on moving into your new place! Whenever i have to move, I ALWAYS wish that I had magical Harry Potter powers that would make all the stuff pack and unpack itself from the cars. Glad to see I’m not the only that has the Harry Potter thoughts cross her mind when moving. 🙂
You certainly aren’t!
I would LOVE that huge window in the bedroom!!
Actually during the day it’s REALLY nice. It’s just early in the morning when I’m trying to sleep that I don’t enjoy it so much.
Congrats on the move! Hope you’re settling in okay 🙂 I know – moving is a pain at first but it will all get situated 🙂
Those sweet potato fries are almost glowing! haha.
Moving can be such a pain in the butt, so I’m glad to hear that yours went okay 😀 And I would LOVE to have a huge window like that in my room, but then again, I’m a freak and wake up at dawn anyways 😆
I’ve always kind of wanted to work as a barista… I find the smell of coffee intoxicating, but I’ve always wondered how they can remember all of those drink recipes… comes with time I guess.
Luckily there’s cheat sheets hung up, but “caramel macchiatos get one less pump of vanilla syrup than everything else, frappaccinos get pumps of this, this and this, and milk for capaccinos gets steamed for 10 seconds, not 5 like lattes” is hard to remember! The smell is so intoxicating — I love grinding the coffee!
Be kind to your barista…words to live by. My baristas are always so friendly and bubbly, but I am pretty sure they are just hopped up on 4 or 5 shots of espresso. Either way, when that coffee is flowing, so is the love. I could use a shot or 2 myself this morning – Monday came back to soon!
I can vouche that they probably are hopped up on espresso!!
Holy moly pizza!! Looks incredible for sure! Moving is definitely bittersweet. I’ve only lived in one place all my life but I can only imagine the excitement but anxiety of it
I’m glad the move went well. All of those eats look scrumptious. I want to go to that restaurant!
I hear ya, we all need internet breaks for sure!
Congrats on the move! It takes a lot of time but it’s pretty exciting at the same time 🙂
Aww I worked as a barista for a few years. I always LOVED it. The smell of coffee, the customers, the fast-pace, and the tips. Unless you work at Starbucks or another chain, I’m jealous! The little shops are the best. Have fun!
Hello, my name is John. My comment: “Holy moly pizza!! Looks incredible for sure! Moving is definitely bittersweet. I’ve only lived in one place all my life but I can only imagine the excitement but anxiety of it.”
