Update

November 13, 2010

Let me update you on a few of the goings on in my life as of late.

#1 I am now the proud owner of my own domain!

This means I’m just laurenlovesgoodfood.com now.  If I had known how little it cost to get rid of that whole .wordpress thing I would have purchased my domain MONTHS ago.

#2 I had a good run!

5 miles in 47:35.  Again, the Garmin only says 4 miles because I did a warm-up mile inside on the treadmill.  This has been saving me in the cold weather!

I assure you it went well so I don’t know why I’m making this face.

I immediately scarfed down an organic honeycrisp upon returning.

#3 According to my camera, I’ve only been eating oats for the past two days.

I had a wonderful Friday lunch date with Beanie at Whole Foods.  Amazing black bean soup, juicy red beets (I have the stains on my hand to prove it), sweet potato fries and literally a bite of pumpkin pie because they had just put samples out!

Unfortunately, I forgot my camera at home! 😦  Usually, if I don’t have pictures it’s because of bad lighting, unappealing food, awkward situations (i.e. sitting in the crowded student center) or because I just plain forget but it’s never because I don’t have my camera.  How unlike me!

Feel free to use your imagination with that pitiful description I just gave of my lunch.

**Truth be told, I snapped some camera phone pictures but I’m feeling lazy and let’s be honest, they probably aren’t good.**

#4 I’ve fallen head over heals for maple syrup!

This could be an expensive addiction…

This may have been my best bowl of oats to date.  I kid you not.

Do you want to know what’s in it?

Okay, so it’s just the usual.

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup water
  • pinch salt
  • 1/2T ground flax
  • 1/2 banana

Topped with:

  • Peanut butter baked apples — chop apple, top with 1T pb and microwave for ~45 seconds-1 minute, then stir
  • 1T of the good stuff, aka maple syrup.

Gah!  So good 🙂

#5 The inside of a walnut is so weird.

#6 Cookies and milk for breakfast is totally allowed.

Not to mention awesome.

Topped with 1/2 of a crumbled pumpkin choco chip cookie.  I was about to pour on some maple when I thought “wait, what’s a cookie without milk?” and on went the almond milk.  And maybe some maple too…

Post-hot shower I sipped on some hot tea and I’m finally feeling warm again.  Friday ended with trivia per usual.

Happy Saturday 🙂

Did you know beets can change your pee orange? Yeah, I found that out today after having a minor heart attack.
