Another Late One

December 9, 2010

I’m at the library till 2 AM again.  I know it sounds awful but really, it’s not that bad.  It’s 9 hours to get homework done and the library is busy busy busy so it never really feels like 2 AM.  In other words, don’t cry for me, Argentina blog readers.

I gave up on all paper writing around 10 PM last night because I had a raging headache.  I awoke ten hours later (!!) feeling completely refreshed and ready for breakfast.

I had many reasons to be exacted for breakfast.

Reason #1:

Chocolate Almond Milk.

#2 Toppings.  Namely, granola and maple syrup.

#3 This bowl:

Thank you, Joey.  I guess you were fed up with hearing me whine about having a Christmas bowl 😛

#4 Mix-ins.

Yes, those are cranberries.  They popped open as I ate them and it was surprisingly fun.

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup chocolate almond milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1t ground flax
  • 1t cocoa powder
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen cranberries (added in the last 3 minutes just to warm them)

‘Twas delicious.  Seriously.

Seriously, what is a sheep doing on campus?

And seriously, why have I never made my own calzones before?  Thank you, (Never Home) Maker.

In case you were worried, the dough I accidentally let rise ALL DAY turned out just fine.

Paired with some veggies.

Today my sister told me she’s having a hard time getting in the Christmas spirit.  Clearly, I do not have this problem.

Christmas is everywhere or in the words of Love Actually “I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes, Christmas is all around me, and so the feeling shows.”

You see a Christmas tree too, right?

Time to stop dreaming of Christmas and buckle down on homework, see ya!

Christmas Attack

December 8, 2010

Christmas finally attacked my apartment and the holiday spirit is in full force.

What do you think of our tree?

I’m a huge fan of mismatching ornaments.  I HATE seeing Christmas trees that have all matching ornaments and bows.  How boring!

We painted these before Christmas ’08.  Guess which one is mine.

Even my oats are looking pretty festive.

I can not get over how much adding a dash of salt to oatmeal does to make the flavor pop!

Dried cranberries have been rocking my world lately.

Breakfast heaven, I tell you.

My 4-mile run was also heavenly because it was warm enough to go outside 🙂

I was there and back in 37  minutes and was impressed that I kept a 9:30-ish pace through the first 3 miles then rocked mile 4 with an 8:50 pace.

I also made a pizza dough between running and breakfast completely forgot it rising next to the stove and went to school.  I’m praying it’s not taking over my entire kitchen as we speak…

What are you doing to get in the holiday spirit?

Winter Goals

December 7, 2010

Note: This post was supposed to publish this morning at 7.  Not cool, wordpress! Better late than never 🙂

I planned on posting my winter goals on December 1st but I forgot… Okay, fine, I hadn’t even made my list till the 3rd.  Consider this picure-free list as my Tuesday post as I have to get back to homework-ing.

Here it goes…

  1. Pop my own popcorn — can’t believe I haven’t already done this!
  2. Finish Gone with the Wind — remember how I started reading this over the summer and haven’t opened it since…
  3. Make Mama Pea’s Dough Balls
  4. Go snowshoeing
  5. Go to a holiday play
  6. Make my own seitan
  7. Go to yoga once a day for a week — I have a coupon for a week of unlimited classes and despite my honest intentions to go over fall break I never made it.  This will change!
  8. Get my glasses adjusted — I haven’t worn my regular glasses since last year because they’re crooked which makes sitting in the back of class quite an obstacle.  Joey is laughing out loud as I read this one.
  9. Donate the 2 bags of clothes that have been sitting in my room for…months!
  10. Run a winter race — this may require a great deal of bravery.
  11. Send my grandpa a Christmas card — and no, not just because I’m graduating and want $$ (although that would be nice too :P)
  12. Make almond butter.
  13. Be internet-free for an entire day — sad that this is actually a challenge for me.
  14. Homemade sandwich bread.
  15. Decorate a gingerbread house or gingerbread men cookies.

Perhaps I’ll add a few more as I think of them but that’s it for now.

It’s Tuessssday already!
