Saturday Snapshots

August 28, 2011

You know what rocks?

Having Saturday off from work for the first time in 3 months.  Plus I already had Friday off.  Is this real life?

It was truly awesome to have a carefree Friday full of yoga, family and good food.

Like these pancakes.

Hands down the best pancake recipe I’ve come up with so far.

Obviously it involved Bailey’s Irish Cream.

Fact #1: Having alcohol for breakfast is a sign of alcoholism.

Fact #2: It doesn’t count as alcohol if all the alcohol has been cooked out.

I promise to share the recipe this week.  And you’ll want it.

It also involved this smoothie.  Which, for you information, I had every single day this week.

Is it just me or does this picture look like it’s upside down, even though it’s a bowl and there’s not right side to be up?

And…

I ate a burger.   A real burger.  For the first time in 2 years.

Back in the day I used to love burgers.  Until they started making me instantly sick after eating them and I’ve been scared to try one ever since.  But I decided to face my fears.

IMG_2563

The good news is I didn’t get sick.

The bad news is I wasn’t as in love with this burger as I thought I would be considering how much I used to like them.

I preferred the company to the food, actually.  My family was a blast 🙂

On Saturday I decided to bust out my 9 mile run.  Hoo-rah!

Joey may have injured himself so he took it easy this week and biked next to me while I ran and skipped his run.

I’m not going to lie, it was nice having someone ride in front of me to part the seas.  VIP running.

And there happened to be a race going on at the same time so there were lots of friendly people out and other runners cheering me on because they thought I was in the race!  If only people were always cheering me on during training runs.

Now I can do my 10K next weekend, which will be much easier to fit in before I have to work.

Afterwards, Joey conned me into not showering and going straight to the Famers’ Market.  Gross, right?

What’s gross is the “Tofu Ninja” dish I got while we were there.

IMG_2566

Full of red onions, bland tofu and a watery yogurt sauce.  Bleh!  It’s dishes like these that make people think tofu is gross.

But we did manage to get eggplant, okra, fresh corn tortillas, peaches and a giant bag of basil.  Score!

And we scored this great new iPhone app.

Funniest.picture.ever.

IMG_2569Is the man with the bro-stache invited to the party?”

Then we hit up the pool.

It.was.hot.  It’s crazy to think there’s a hurricane going on on the other side of the country when the weather here is perfectly normal.  If being 97* in late August is normal…

Napping > reading while at the pool.

Then of course there was leftover BBQ chickpea pizza and frozen yogurt.  Can you say obsessed?

Hope your weekends were equally lovely!

Best thing you did this weekend?

What’s the weather like where you are?  Summer?  Fall?  Hurricane?

Your weekend sounds so nice.. seriously.
I think I’d prefer most veggie burgers to real burgers if I ate meat again. Real burgers always made me feel sluggish.. and I love how veggie burgers can have all these different flavors to them.
It’s been pretty warm in Oregon. I’m currently watching my boyfriend make me tacos with his shirt off because it’s hot in our house. Heh heh… this is the life!

I think veggie burgers have better textures and you’re right, they are much better at containing a bunch of great flavors.

Sounds like an awesome night 😛

That’s exactly what I thought when the guy handed it over.

I live in BoCo and have also eaten–and been extremely disappointed with–that Tofu Ninja dish from the Farmer’s Market:(

Ah, so it wasn’t just me! I should have known better when that tent had NO line…

That brostash commercial is my favorite! Bahaha, those are some seriously cute pictures though. I want your pancakes.

And I hate watery tofu. It’s like “You’re supposed to press the water out. Did you even Google ‘Tofu’?”

I didn’t do anything this weekend! Thanks to stormageddon.

Bummer about the weather 😦 Hope you’re safe now.

Whenever someone tells me that booze in the morning is a bad sign, I always recall that someone once told me that Winston Churchill would start his day with 2 drinks of booze every morning. And who am I to question the likes of W.C.?

Ok I seriously can’t wait for that pancake recipe! I love love love Bailey’s 🙂
Well done on your run, I wish I could run that far!
And by the way, you’re so cute, I love your blog 🙂

Sounds like a fun/yummy weekend! Congrats on the 9 mile run, dang! haha. I had a really laid-back weekend, the weather was summery and just a little cooler, almost fall-like, I love it 🙂

  8. August 29, 2011 6:24 AM

  9. August 29, 2011 12:04 PM

I love all your Bailey’s breakfast ideas. And ugh, I hate getting bad tofu, ’cause I feel the same way–THIS is why tofu has such a bad name! But it can be so gooood. Hot and dry summer here–and I love it.

I’m sorry, did you say alcohol infused pancakes? I have no words. I just want to hug you ❤
