Unmotivated
I don’t know if it’s the fact that I eat oatmeal everyday, leftovers almost everyday and eat dinner everyday after it’s dark but I’m feeling very unmotivated in terms of this blog 😦
It actually makes me really sad when I don’t look forward to posting. I’m hoping it’s just a phase but if I stop posting daily, it’s because I’m waiting for inspiration to strike and excitement to overtake me.
That being said, please accept these mehhh breakfast pictures.
If you want breakfast fast, opt for yogurt over oatmeal.
It’s totally mental, but when I see a breakfast that barely fills the same bowl that my normal oatmeal usually fills to the brim I assume it won’t be filling and immediately regret not making oatmeal.
This yogurt-y mess included:
- Plain Greek yogurt
- Maple pumpkin butter
- Honey (which I added before remembering I had maple pumpkin butter but it really only needed one or the other)
- Granola
- Dark chocolate covered cashews
I was so confused with how to eat this mess. Do I mix it? Do I eat it topping by topping? Novice.
I ended up mixing it and then adding a banana (which didn’t make it into any of the pictures).
Oddly enough, this held me over till for a good 3.5 hours. And that 3.5 hours even included a run. Did I mention I attempted a run on Friday and made it 2.5 miles and gave up? I guess the blog isn’t the only place where I haven’t been feeling motivated but I fell back into the running groove, which I attribute to the fact that I was outdoors, had a running buddy and wasn’t running right after waking up or after a day of school/work.
I sure am picky now, aren’t I?
Lunch? Leftovers. Shocking, I know but they were damn good.
Ahh, that pesto pizza was so so good. There was only one piece left and I was super selfish and declared, “I’m eating the pesto piece, that’s all I know!” like the brat that I am.
Of course, the tomato pie was pretty good too. Who says pizza has to have cheese? Okay, me. But no cheese is fun too.
And because I always need a side dish, carrots and cinnamon maple almond butter. Gosh, that stuff is good. I think anything would taste good dipped in it!
We finished Inception and I must say, it was really really good! I feel like I would have to watch it at least 80 more times to catch all the complex details. And I wouldn’t mind watching it 80 more times if I got to stare at Joseph Gordon-Levitt the whole time.
I also made it to yoga <— free class, wa-hoo!
Anyone catch the Golden Globes? Apparently I need to see The Social Network!
I know when I’m feeling in a blog stump, one thing I do is go to a Random Word Generator and click on it until there’s a word that inspires an anecdote, a recipe, etc.
and by stump I mean slump.
I know how you feel. I felt the same way over the course of Nov into Dec. I think it was the fact that my life was so hectic at that point with job, kids, holidays, etc. I did “take off” of blogging for a few weeks. Then I realized that I really missed it, and that it was okay if I didn’t blog daily. Skipping a day every once in a while is just fine. So know I blog if I have a recipe to share, a story that inspires me, or just need to get something out there. I read several blogs that do not post daily, but when they do they are great! My motto = quality over quantity 🙂
Too funny that we had the exact same breakfast — although I like all your add-ins. I was too ready to dig in to remember to add mine!
Oh and I get unmotivated at times as well….just roll with it and we’ll be here when you feeling like blogging 🙂
Although I haven’t been blogging long at all, I have been running competitively since high school. And since I’ve graduated college, I’ve gone through long phases where I lose my motivation to pound the pavement (just last week for example…). I found the best solution is to pick some short-term goal, like running a certain number of times in a week. If you make it, reward yourself with something inexpensive you really love or have been wanting. A new yoga mat? A manicure? It helps to get over that slump!
I think you should definitely do what feels right for you – I personally stopped posting daily and taking pictures of all my meals. So whenever I want or have an idea for a post, I blog.
But you should really try different things until you find out what’s best for you. Even taking a break from blogging!
Anyway – food looks amazing as always 🙂
Happy Monday, Lauren!
xoxo
I often have days and/or weeks where I feel really unmotivated with blogging (i.e. all of last week when I didn’t post at all). I think the thing that I had to come terms with is that it’s OKAY if I don’t post everyday and that I shouldn’t feel guilty if I don’t. I’m still working on that whole concept, but I feel like I’m getting better at it as time goes on. I try to write when I want to write, and then I take a break when I don’t feel particularly inspired with anything. Maybe you might want to consider blogging less frequently so it’s less of a chore? Either way, know that I think your blog rocks, and I’ll read whenever you choose to write! 🙂
