Snapshots from Sunday
Oh.
Hi.
Sorry to be extra MIA lately. You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to write a post without a good working computer. This decrepit Dell laptop has made the time it takes for me to write a post increase by about an hour. And that’s just the time it takes for my pictures to upload and Windows Live Writer to open. The only trade off is that I actually get to use WLR. I miss it so.so.much.
Anyways.
I went to breakfast with my mom and sister this morning and had a giant Cafe au Lait. In other words my brain is moving a mile a minute right now and I can’t stop moving. Upside: my bathroom, microwave and kitchen countertops are very clean.
And I had plenty of energy to spend walking around at the Chalk Art Festival.
They were passing around 3D glasses for this one.
If you’ve been a reader for a while and saw me post about this event last year, you might remember there was one like this where they warp the actual drawing to make the reflection have the normal proportions.
I have no idea if that sentence made any sense. But my caffeinated brain can’t spend any amount of time rewording it.
Fact: It’s hot in Denver today. And shade feels extra good.
Also.
See those pants? I went shopping for regular old boot cut jeans last weekend and left with skinny turquoise capris. Typical.
And this picture turned out to be highly disappointing. Wah, wah.
Favorites included this one.
This one.
This one.
For obvious reasons.
Now if you’ll excuse me, someone just exploded a green chicken chili burger in the microwave and it needs cleaning. Again.
Happy Sunday!

What did you spend your Sunday doing?
Which picture is your favorite?
Do you have any outdoor art festivals like this where you live?
10 Reasons to Love the Bolder Boulder
1. Because it’s an excuse to get together with a bunch of like-minded crazy people who want to be awake and racing on their day off.
2. Because it means getting to see a friend that you don’t spend nearly enough time with.
3. Because no other race has belly dancers to distract you from the first uphill stretch.
4. Because you get to pass up a real life puppet.
And a spectator using a cone as a microphone. Normal, totally normal.
5. Because it’s the only race where you can enjoy a 5-course meal of marshmallows, Otter Pops, bacon, Doritos and beer.
But only if you can do a keg stand.
6. Because there’s a Slip ‘n Slide.
And by that, I mean, there’s a Slip ‘n Slide!!!
And yes, yes that is Joey.
7. Because you get to finish in the stadium of your very own college.
Made even better if it’s a bright beautiful day without a cloud in the sky.
8. Because it’s the only time you can legally drink beer inside the aforementioned stadium.
Before 10 AM, naturally.
9. Because you get to watch all kinds of crazy costumed people finish the race.
When’s the last time you saw a pair of red Solo cups finish a race?
10. Because you get to spend two hours with two of your favorite people while you wait for the elite runners to start racing.
And subsequently, be amazed by the fact that those elite runners can finish a 10K in half an hour. A-MAZED.
Hoping you all had a great Memorial Day and the chance to run/walk/cartwheel/leapfrog a race as fun as the Bolder Boulder in your lifetime!
Kickoff to Summer
Happy Memorial Day!
Last night I spilled a glass of water and it got to our new expensive Macbook and now it won’t turn on. So I’m using our old Dell and I think it took about 20 minutes for Windows Live Writer to even open.
Happy Memorial Day, indeed!
I’ll worry about my laptop tomorrow. For now, I’m going to enjoy what’s left of this perfect weekend. I know summer doesn’t officially start till June 20th, but I say it starts during Memorial Day weekend. And if this weekend has been any sign of how the rest of the summer will go, I think it’s going to be an awesome one.
Full of laughter.
Friday night entertainment.
And colorific fun.
I ran the Denver Color Run on Saturday with my college roommate and can I just say best race concept ever? It’s basically like having a colored powered sugar food fight. And then you look like this afterwards.
I’m suddenly glad I didn’t buy new running shoes last week.
If you’ve never had to wash green paint out of the inside of your ear, you haven’t lived.
And delicious summertime food. Obviously. Who do you think I am?
We made this on Saturday night (with shrimp instead of salmon) and I thought it was simple and delicious.
I love anything with mango salsa lately.
And outdoorsy Boulder things.
I’m sort of ashamed to admit I’ve lived in Boulder all my life and this was the first time I’ve ever been to the Boulder Creek Festival. There were a million tents selling this, that and the other, but I actually thought the best part was this random guy balancing rocks in the creek. I mean, how cool is that?!
Second best was watching kids tumble around in these giant inflatable balloons. My sister and I had a good laugh over this.
And of course, no Memorial Day is complete without the Bolder Boulder.
Plain and simple: I love this race. Marshmallows, Otter Pops, Slip n’ Slides and all.
Somewhere in there I also fit in napping, shopping and laptop-ruining.
Now it’s dinner and Rockies. Guess where I’m going, guys. Just guess!

How did you spend Memorial Day weekend?
Ever ruined an electronic device?
Anyone else run a race this weekend? I’ll share all my other BB pictures later this week. Granted I have a working laptop…
